Once your creative is uploaded, it goes through a 2-step review process.
Below you will find some common reject reasons from both steps.
Technical review issues
In the initial technical specifications review, your creative may not have met the correct specifications. If this happens, you'll see an error describing the reason and you'll receive an email with that information, as well.
Common technical issues and recommended solutions
Video bitrate too low
If your video bitrate falls below the minimum 6 megabits per second (Mbps), your creative will be rejected by our platform. Work with your creative team to increase your video’s bitrate in your export settings to at least 6 Mbps. Reach out to our Help Center if you’d like some software recommendations to help you make these adjustments.
Incorrect frame rate
If your frame rate falls below 23.97 or above 30 FPS, your creative will be rejected. The frame rate, when exported, should match the frame rate at which it was recorded and/or edited, when possible.
Video length too long or short
If your video is under 6 seconds or over 90 seconds, it'll be rejected. Most rejections in this area are due to ads running a few seconds passed 90 (E.g. 92 seconds).
Content review issues
Once your tech specs pass the review, your creative will be in a 2-3 day manual review. If the content is prohibited by our Roku Ad Guidelines, your creative will be rejected. You’ll receive an email with a rejection reason describing which guidelines your content violates.
Common content rejection reasons and recommended solutions
Sensitive or prohibited categories
Roku has Advertising Guidelines that spell out what types of content we will not accept, such as sensitive categories, like violent or mature content. We suggest that you review these guidelines and look over our list of Prohibited categories before starting on your creative.
Non-english language creative
Ad audio must be in english. Ads in other languages -- most commonly Spanish -- will be rejected. Ads that use both English and another language may be approved if the talk track for each language is the same. Subtitles on non-english language creatives will not be approved.
If your creative is rejected for content, you'll receive an email explaining the reason. You'll need to revise and reupload the creative for review. It'll be subject to the 2-3 review period again.
A rejected creative won't be stored in the creative library. If you feel like the rejection is unwarranted or you'd like to discuss it, please reach out to support.
