Ad Credits

What’s an ad credit, and how do I use them?

Updated over a week ago

This article will describe what ad credits are, when you can use them, and how they function.

What are Ad Credits?

Ad Credits are promotional offers which can be redeemed within Roku Ads Manager and applied towards advertising campaign spend on the platform. Use of Ad Credits is subject to the Ads Manager Terms.

When am I eligible for an Ad Credit?

Ad Credits are offered at Roku's discretion and are only redeemable by eligible accounts in good standing, with no overdue payments, and a valid payment method on file. Some Ad Credit offers may have additional eligibility requirements, such as being a first-time spender or meeting campaign spend thresholds. Requirements are provided with the specific promotional offers.

How do I activate and use my Ad Credit?

Ad Credits are issued as promo codes. If you have a promo code, you can apply it to an ad account within your organization, provided your account is in good standing and has a valid payment method on file.

To activate your Ad Credits:

  1. Sign into Roku Ads Manager and navigate to your Ad Account’s Payment Page by clicking the icon on the top right of any screen.

Offer Types: Conditional Ad Credits vs Non-Condition Ad Credits

Ad Credits may come with or without eligibility conditions. We'll explain each type and their different statuses, below.

  • Conditional Ad Credits (Offers):

    • Conditional Ad Credits appear in the Offers chart at the bottom of the Ad Credits page.

    • They have a “Pending” status until the eligibility condition is met.

    • Once the condition is met, the credit moves to the Ad Credits chart at the top of the Ad Credits page.

Offer Status

Description

Pending

The offer is active, but the eligibility condition has not yet been met.

Expired

The offer's eligibility condition was not met before the expiration date, so the offer is no longer valid.

  • Non-Conditional Ad Credits:

    • These credits are automatically placed in the Ad Credits chart at the top of the Ad Credits page.

    • No eligibility conditions are required for activation, beyond being in good standing and having a valid payment method on file.

Ad Credit Status

Description

Used

The credit has been fully utilized, regardless of expiration.

Partially Used

The credit is active and not fully utilized.

Expired

The credit’s expiration date has passed.

When will my ad credits be applied?

  • Offers: As soon as the promo code is entered, Ads Manager begins tracking the eligibility requirement. Once the condition is met, the Ad Credit is automatically added and begins being utilized.

  • Ad Credits: Ad Credits without eligibility requirements begin being utilized immediately after the promo code is entered.

Ad Credits are applied at the account level (not campaign-specific) and are utilized until they expire or are exhausted. Once an Ad Credit is fully used or expires, billing reverts to the original payment method on file. If multiple Ad Credits are active, the one with the closest expiration date is used first.

Ad Credits are included in payment invoices for transparency.
